Top 10 Finish for hsy Racing at The Bend Motorsport Park.
hsy Racing have capped off their first trip to the brand new The Bend Motorsport Park with an impressive 9thplace finish in the first endurance race of the 2018 Australian GT Championship. GT regular Ash Samadi teamed up with youngster Dylan O’Keeffe to tackle the impressive new track.
The weather proved to be just as great of a hurdle to competitors as anything else as racing on Saturday was cancelled due to a dust storm sweeping the South Australian track.
The duo of Samadi and O’Keeffe qualified in 14th for the feature race on Sunday morning clocking a respectable time in what were horrendous conditions, represented by the fact that the gap between first and last were some 29 seconds around the 7.7km circuit.
Racing kicked off on Sunday morning on a revised circuit, with the hsy Racing Audi able to negotiate the traffic and fight their way through to finish in 9th place. A fantastic effort considering their starting position.
Dylan O’Keeffe had the following to say on his Facebook page on Sunday afternoon; “Challenging weekend at The Bend Motorsport Park driving alongside Ash Samadi in the first round of the Australian GT Endurance Championship, it’s good to finish 9th after starting 14th on the grid. The highlight was doing battle with Supercars drivers like Shane van Gisbergen along the way.”
The hsy Racing team will next hit the circuit in mid-May for round 3 of the Australian GT Championship to be held at Melbourne’s Sandown Park.
Thank you to our supplier Schaeffler for sponsoring the hsy car in this race.
