The ATE FB 30S brake filling and bleeding unit conquers the market

It was a perfect start: Over 20% of ATE customers have already been convinced by the new ATE FB 30S bleeding unit. Easy to operate and with an additional extractor unit, this premium brake bleeding unit has set a new standard since it was presented at the Automechanika 2008 trade fair. It allows brake fluid to be changed and the brake system to be bled even more professionally and safely than ever before.

Modern service units are essential for changing the brake fluid and filling or bleeding the brake systems of modern vehicles with their electronic brake systems and low-viscosity brake fluids. In addition, a professional brake fluid service also requires the expansion reservoir to be cleaned, which involves extracting the old, dirty brake fluid in advance.

In order to fulfill this requirement, an integrated extractor unit has been added to the tried and tested ATE FB 30. Three signal lamps have also been added to the operating panel. With its innovative but reliable “electronic pressure control” technology featuring defined pressure stages and an integrated extractor unit for used brake fluid, the ATE FB 30S sets the standard for the future in brake filling and bleeding units.

The ATE FB 30S has just one central rotary switch to select between brake fluid extraction or filling or bleeding of the brake system at defined pressure stages. The three signal lamps indicate that the selected function is operating correctly.

To extract used brake fluid, the unit features an integrated, independent and very robust pump. Even difficult-to-reach expansion reservoirs are easy to empty using the spiral hose which can be extended to a length of up to 3 meters and features a long suction lance. A filter integrated in the extraction hose protects the extraction pump from coarse contaminants.

The extracted brake fluid is collected in a transparent 1-litre collection bottle which is connected to the ATE FB 30S by means of a quick-release coupling. This can be emptied into the ATE disposal system simply by uncoupling it at the additional quick-release coupling on its base. Conventional emptying is also possible via the screw cap.

When filling, flushing and bleeding the brake system, the ATE FB 30S operates with four pressure stages which are also set at the central rotary switch: unpressurized, 0.4, 1.0 and 2.2 bar. Special attention has been paid to the tough reliability requirements of units which operate with low-viscosity brake fluids. Accordingly, the ATE FB 30S is perfectly equipped to fill, flush and bleed all modern, electronically-controlled brake and clutch systems as well as conventional systems.

The “electronic pressure control” system ensures a constant working pressure which can be monitored at the pressure gauge. This pressure gauge is also located on the ergonomically inclined operating panel together with the rotary switch and signal lamps.

The ATE FB 30S brake filling and bleeding unit works directly from 5, 20 and 30 litre brake fluid containers*, which are securely fixed to the unit with a bracket. This prevents the need for the time-consuming process of transferring brake fluid from one container into another. In addition to ATE brake fluid canisters, other common containers can also be used. Special brackets ensure that the suction lance is seated securely in the rubber sealing cone of the container.

The ATE FB 30S features an integrated alarm to ensure that air never gets into the brake system: If the brake fluid in the container starts to run out, the unit switches off automatically, issues a distinct signal tone and switches on the third indicator lamp to warn that the container needs to be changed.

The bleeding unit has a range of clever features and customized accessories to ensure easy handling and operation: The ATE FB 30S is equipped with practical brackets for the filling hose and power cord on the side and a handy stowage tray. Thanks to its large wheels, an ergonomic grab handle and low centre of gravity, the ATE FB 30S can be maneuvered conveniently and safely.

Further information on the comprehensive range of ATE bleed fittings* and recommended accessories* for the ATE FB 30S can be found in the ATE tool catalog WK3. Information on ATE disposal systems* for used brake fluid can also be found here.
